VTG 12 Piece Japanese Kutani Ware Tea Set: Blue Grain Tessen Flower Design: EUCThis gorgeous vintage hand-painted Kutani ware tea set features the Aotsubu Tessin, or “Blue Grain Tessen Flower” design which is characterized by the raised blue dots against a dark green background embellished with gilded floral patterns. Together, this 12-piece set weighs 2 pounds 6.5 ounces and includes 5 lidded teacups and a lidded tea pot. The tea pot is 4” tall with the lid, 5 ¼” wide including the handle, 5 1/8” across to the spout, and it has a 10-ounce capacity. It has a 2 ½” diameter at the mouth and a 2 1/8” diameter at the base. The cups are 3” tall with the lids and 2” without the lids. They have a 2 7/8” diameter at the mouth, a 1 ¼” diameter at the base, they are 1 ½” deep and they have a 3-ounce capacity. The lids have a 3 ¼” diameter. This set is in excellent vintage condition with a few naturally-occurring bubbles and/or imperfections in the glaze. One cup has a slight cloudy group of tiny dots on the inside, and the spout on the tea pot has a few little gold flecks. This stunning set would make a fabulous addition to any collection, and would surely delight any fan of exquisite Japanese functional artware.
